So, I read a lame comment on a youtube video. Saying something like, "the black keys are good, but if another band was playing their music, you'd over look them"
So put in my 2 cents as to why they are different.
Really, there is no other band today, making the music they are making!
And no, the White Stripes aren't the same thing.
But they have a different approach to music, they are not the machine of some producer.
They've been Indie, which really means it is all about what they choose.
And the real thing I see that stands out, is their diversity in styles and their recording techniques.
They break all the rules! No producer would record the way they've done!
Compression, the end of production, is to bring the sound together and make it sound like all the other stuff on the radio. They must've said "Fuck that shit"!
Fuzz, distortion, distance.
Listen to Dan's voice on "Thickfreakness" http://www.youtube.c...v=3X_lOZI9KWI#!
someone posted this on FB today, and it's just so deep blues, it could pass as an old album.
and listen to "Stop Stop"
sounds like a completely different voice and different band!
What makes the Black Keys stand out?
